Why Reddit videos save without sound — and how to get the full MP4
Reddit hosts its videos on v.redd.it and streams the picture and the sound as two separate files. That is why right-click saving, screen recorders and many downloaders hand you a silent clip. Klipa fetches both tracks and merges them into a single MP4, so the video plays exactly as it did on Reddit.
Which Reddit links work
Paste the link of a public post (reddit.com/r/…/comments/…), old.reddit.com links included, or the link of a single comment that contains a video. Most GIF posts on Reddit are short videos, and they are saved as MP4. A GIF or a single image hosted by Reddit (i.redd.it) comes out as the original .gif, .jpg or .png file. Galleries of several images, whole subreddits and user profiles are not supported.
Quality
The free download is in standard definition (480p). When Reddit has a sharper version — often 720p or 1080p — you can unlock the HD file for {price_hd}. Once saved, trim the moment you need or turn it into a GIF.

How to download a Reddit video with sound
Step 1
Copy the post or comment link
On a computer, copy the address from your browser's address bar, or use Share → Copy link under the post. For a video posted in a comment, copy that comment's own link. In the Reddit app, Share → Copy link gives a short address containing /s/ that our servers cannot open: paste it into your browser first, then copy the full address that appears (it contains /comments/).
Step 2
Paste it and press Download
Paste the link in the box above. Klipa checks the post, downloads the video and audio tracks from v.redd.it and merges them into one MP4 with synchronised sound. Most videos are ready in a few seconds.
Step 3
Save the MP4
Download the file to your phone or computer — free in 480p, or in HD when the source allows it. Save it right away: files are only kept on our servers for a short time. Need just the sound? Convert the MP4 to MP3.

Reddit video downloader — questions and answers
How do I download a video from a Reddit comment?
Open the comment that contains the video, use Share → Copy link on that comment (not on the post), and paste the link here. Klipa finds the video inside the comment and saves it as an MP4 with sound.
Why do Reddit videos download without sound?
Reddit stores the picture and the audio of a video as two separate streams on v.redd.it. Tools that grab only the picture give you a silent file. Klipa downloads both and merges them, so the MP4 plays with its original sound. If the post has no sound on Reddit itself, there is nothing to merge.
Can I save a Reddit video as MP4?
Yes. Every Reddit video you download here is an MP4 file that plays on iPhone, Android, Windows and Mac.
How do I download a GIF from Reddit?
Paste the post link. If Reddit hosts the GIF as an image (i.redd.it), you get the original .gif file. Most GIF posts, though, are short videos on v.redd.it: they come out as MP4, and our video to GIF converter turns them into a real .gif.
Does it work on iPhone and Android?
Yes, in any mobile browser — there's no app to install. On iPhone, the file goes to the Files app (Downloads); from there, Share → Save Video puts it in Photos.
Why doesn't the link from the Reddit app work?
The app's Share button creates a short link (reddit.com/r/…/s/…) that Reddit only opens in a browser. Open that link in your browser, copy the full address that appears (it contains /comments/), and paste that one here.
Can I download Reddit videos in HD or 4K?
The free download is in 480p. When Reddit has a sharper version — usually 720p or 1080p — you can unlock the HD file for {price_hd}, or download in HD with a subscription.
Can I download from private, NSFW or quarantined communities?
Only public posts. Private communities, and posts that Reddit only shows to signed-in users — such as age-restricted or quarantined ones — can't be opened by our servers.
Is there a limit on Reddit downloads?
Without an account, you can download up to 300 minutes of video every 7 days. The video's full length is checked before the transfer starts.
Is it legal to download Reddit videos?
Saving a public video to watch offline is generally tolerated, but the video still belongs to its creator. Ask permission and credit them before reposting it, and follow Reddit's rules.
